This was well worth the wait. Absolutely amazing. Not only is it emotionally raw, but it covers multiple topics.
I have read a lot of poetry collections lately where each poem has no more than maybe 15 words, like suddenly the writers have become afraid of words. Brenna is a definite exception to that modern rule. Which I appreciate even more about her.
Read it. You won't be sorry.

I honestly really love this collection so much, I wish I could say what these poems mean to me. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Brenna's poetry is life-changing. It's about reading something that you didn't know anyone else could have ever felt. You see the words on paper and they speak to your soul so accurately that think you must have blacked out, found talent and wrote them yourself. I didn't like poetry before this...but now I just want to hear more.

Brenna Twohy is one of my favorite poets of today. So skilled and so relatable. I'd recommend this to anyone. Even people who say poetry is too complicated.
After listening to Brenna Twohy's spoken word poetry, I had to purchase this book and I am really glad that I did. I appreciate her willingness and her ability to share her vulnerabilities through her writing. Her words evoke vivid imagery and are so relatable .
As a survivor of abuse, Forgive Me My Salt hits hard. It reminds me of all that I've survived and makes me feel less alone. Poetry is not a medium I often feel connection with, but I re-read this when I'm having flashbacks and remember that I survived.
I honestly felt a tad disappointed by this collection, based on literally ALL of the other reviews being 5 stars. I know how therapeutic poetry can be and I'm so glad this author is able to get her thoughts out on paper-- writing has the power to heal and transform. I can also see how this would probably be very impressive as spoken word. But as poetry, when you have time to sit and digest each word and phrase, I found it to be pretty average. There are a few moments that stand out, but I expected more.
